And it gave me appreciation for the outdoors, and for service. It whetted my appetite to be doing something more with myself. It gave me an appreciation to be serving my country.” Long, whose father was in the military, joined the 24th Infantry Division and served in the Gulf War in 1989 and 1990. He settled in Hiram in 1999.
